Chic Planning: May Weekly Layoyts

Hello Everyone!

I know I am weeks behind and I do apologize, so I’m going to make this post as short as possible. So let’s get started!

May 2-8, 2016:  Butterflies Everywhere

We’ve been seeing a lot of butterflies this Spring so I wanted to commemorate this week’s layout to their grace and beauty.

Materials Used: Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Cracked Pistachio, Black Soot, Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers; MAMBI Washi Tape; the Paper Studio Washi Tape; Archival Ink – Jet Black; Tim Holtz Distress Crayon Watercolor Kit; Stamp Sets – Heidi Swapp, Chic Tags Im A Planner Addict, The Sassy Club Planner Doodles/Sassy Life/Planner Girl, Tim Holtz Collection Visual Artistry Flughts of Fancy, Dylusions Clearly Doodle Parts/Floral Flourish, and The Happy Planner Sticker Set

I wanted to make sure that my butterflies looked as though they were captured mid-flight so I only glued the center part of the butterfly down.

The quote I ended up using on the left side panel (not pictured) stated:

Love is like a butterfly, it goes where it pleases and pleases where it goes. ~Unknow

May 9-15, 2015:  Honeycombs

This week was another ode to Spring. No birds, but definitely the bees.

Materials Used: Tim Holtz Distress Ink-Black Soot/Picked Raspberry; Versafine Pigment Ink-Onyx Black; Recollections Washi Tape & Banner Stamp; Heidi Swapp Heart Washi Tape; Stampabilities Blessings Wooden Stamp; Hero Arts Clearly Kelly Stamp Sets-Kelly’s Coffee & Donuts; The Crafter’s Workshop 6×6 Mini Chicken Wire Stencil; Clear Staml Sets-Heidi Swapp/Chic Tags Planner Addict/ Sandra Amelia The Sassy Club Planner Doodles/Planner Girl/Sassy Life/BoBunny ICONS Stamps; Target Dollar Spot Rewards Stickers/Class of 2016 Stickers; Simple Stories Clear Stickers; Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Clear Stamps-Random Thoughts; MAMBI Sticks Paper Stickers and Regular Stickers; MAMBI Create 365 The Happy Planner Stickers

I didn’t want to cover the spread with honeycombs so I made sure to leave some white space and added some bees and Rose washi tape to the spread.

The quote I ended up using on the left side panel (not pictured) stated:

The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life. ~William Morris

May 16-22, 2016:  Art

And lastly this week’s planner layout. It’s entitled, Art because I decided to do another mixed media layout.

Left Side

The quote by Barbra Streisand reads:

Art does not exist only to entertain, but also to challenge one to think, to provoke, even to disturb, in a constant search for truth.

Right Side

And below is the full layout for this week.

Materials Used: Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Acrylic Paint-Magenta/Lemon/Turquoise; Dyan Reaveley Dylusions Pain-Black Marble; Recollections BOHO Wood Stamp; Washi Tape; Tim Holtz Distress Ink-Black Soot; Dylusions Stamp & Stencil-Shattered Bits; Basic Grey-Hello Stamp Set; Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black; Memento Dye Ink-London Fog; Heidi Swapp Memory Planner Stamp Set; Chic Tag I’m A Planner Addict; Sandra Amelia’s The Sassy Club-Planner Doodles/Sassy Life/Planner Girl; Hampton Art Vintologie Stamp & Stencil Set; Art c Stamp & Cut Set; BoBunny ICONS Stamp Set

I fully agree with the quote, especially the part about art challenging us to think and search for truth. Also, art can make us feel provoked with anger or happiness and it can sometimes be so dark that it disturbs us to our core.

Here in this piece, I wanted to use my happy colors but I also wanted to add the element of mystery behind the eyes that pop up randomly.

Well, that is it for now. Thank you so much for sticking with me through this post. I hope you enjoyed it and were inspired by the spreads. Until next week,

Happy Planning!

Nati J.
