DIY Guitar Picks Display Tutorial

Hello Everyone!

Today I wanted to share a quick tutorial with you all. My step-dad plays just about every instrument known to man, with the guitar being his #1 love.

While we were on vacation in California, during our stop in San Diego, we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Historic Gaslamp District. Before leaving, we stopped by the Hard Rock gift store and purchased some guitar picks for my Dad.

When we returned home and gave him his gift, he told me he wanted to put them on display in his studio, so I took the guitar picks back home with me and came up with this little DIY for him.  So let’s get started with this tutorial.

The materials used for this DIY are very minimal. I started out by cutting out a 5×7 piece of heavy cardstock, gathering the guitar picks and some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Blueprint Sketch

Next I added some ink to my ink blending tool.

And inked the edges of the 5×7 piece of cardstock.

After inking the edges of the cardstock, I took out all of the guitar picks.

And then assembled them onto the cardstock.

Next, I placed some foam adhesive on each guitar pick and placed them back onto the cardstock.

The foam adhesive creates a raised look for the guitar picks.

Next, I grabbed a frame and put the guitar pick cardstock in it.

And that is it folks. Now it’s ready to be placed on the wall of my Dad’s studio!

I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial. Until next time,

Happy Crafting!

Hello Everyone!!!

I hope you all are doing well. Today I wanted to share my planner layout for this week. So let’s get started!

Here is the left side of my planner. I found the girl on Pinterest, it’s a Bella Pilar illustration. I originally was going to use her on another project but somehow she found her way here. So I worked with it.

In the right side I stuck with the same washi tape and added the Life is an adventure washi tape because I thought it would go well with the illustrated fashion girl.

Chic Planning:  July 18-24, 2016 Oh Snap….Plan With Me Tutorial

Hello Everyone!

Today I’ll be sharing with you all my planner spread for this week in a step-by-step tutorial. I thought it would be nice to share my process.  So let’s get started!

Every week in the happy planner, we all start off with blank pages…

The first thing I like to do is start off, or find something that inspires me.

This week, I was inspired by the Oh Snap free printable by Victoria Thatcher and more importantly the fact that this week my oldest daughter and I will be celebrating our birthday…on the same day. I knew I wanted to document our birthday with some of my favorite recent photos of myself and my daughter. Once I knew for sure that I would be using these three photo, along with the print from Victoria Thatcher, I put them in place.

Next, I looked at the Birthday and the Oh Snap free printables by Victoria Thatcher to see which items I wanted to use in my spread for this week.

After deciding which items to use from the printables I cut them out and added them to my spread.

Next, added washi tape and I glued down my photos and framed them with a black outline.

While gluing down my picture, I decided I also wanted to add some watercolor to some of the boxes.

I used my detailed water brush to color in three rectangles.

I also grabbed a gelli print from my stash and punched out some mini bows.

I attached the bows to the top of my spread between each individual date, as a final touch.

Here is how the left side came out.

And then the right side.

Materials Used: Free Printables by Victoria Thatcher: Birthday/Oh Snap; Koi Watercolors Pocket Field Sketch Box; American Crafts Bow Punch (.375″); Washi Tape: Walmart. Recollections and the Paper Studio, and Gelli Print frim Stash

Overall, I enjoy the fun-ness of the layout. I believe it truly captures my theme:  Oh Snap, It’s Our Birthday!!!!  Well, until next time,

Happy Planning!

Happy Mail

Hello Everyone!

Today I wanted to share with you all a different kind of post.  One that is not the norm here.

When we returned back from vacation, I had received my monthly Happy Mail!  I mean who doesn’t like getting happy mail?!? I received my monthly beauty boxes from Birchbox, Julep and Ipsy.  Today, I would like to share my goodies with you.

Above is my monthly box from Julep, at the cost of $19.99 a month.  I’ve been receiving Julep since the fall of 2013. I have an amazing stash of nail polish. The one featured here is from their Bombshell Maven Box and is called Camilla. The cool thing about the Julep nail polishes is that they are all named after various females. Not only does Julep make nail polish, but they also make top of the line beauty products. I’ve heard a lot about their bronzer and I am so excited to try out the one that came in my box, So Radiant Diamond Powder Bronzer in light golden bronze. The lip gloss that I received is the Julep Lip Gloss – Delighted. I love their lip gloss so I’m excited about getting another one. Julep boxes generally come with two nail polishes and one beauty product, but I was happy to receive two beauty products this month.

Next up is Birchbox!

Birchbox is comprised of high end beauty products enclosed in a beautiful reusable box. I’ve been with Birchbox since the fall of 2014.  I love trying out the various samples that they provide each month, at the low cost of $10! Usually you get 5-6 beauty samples each month along with a description card that tells you a little about each product, as well as, the cost for a full size. In my Birchbox this month,  I received the following items:

  • Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution
  • Cools SPF 30 Organic Makeup Setting Spray
  • Balance Me Radiance Face Mask
  • Rene Furterer Karinga Hydrating Styling Cream
  • Smashbox Cosmetics X-Rated Mascara
  • L’Orèal Professionnel Mythic Oil Nourishing Masque

Lastly, my Ipsy Glam Bag.

In my Ipsy Glam Bag this month, I received the following products:

  • Too Faced Hangover RX Replenishing Face Primer
  • Thrive Causemetics Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner
  • Luxor Beauty Makeup brush
  • Briogeo Curl Charisma rice amino+quinoa frizz control gel
  • OFRA lip liner – Maya

I’ve been receiving Ipsy since this spring. I totally love it. The regular price for the products are fairly reasonable and the subscription is $10 per month. I also like the reusable makeup bag that the makeup comes in. These can be used for makeup as well as other supplies that you may need a small bag for.

If you’re into beauty products, these and many other subscriptions are a great way to try a wide range of products without all the attached costs.

Fun Happy Mail

Post Vacation Haul

Hello Everyone!

Today, I wanted to share some of my goodies post-vacation. So let’s get started!

This week I was able to make to make it to some of my favorite places:  Hobby Lobby, Michael’s and Target!!!!  And pictured above is what I purchased.  So let’s break it down by store.

First stop Target!  I purchased Horizon Group USA Tags – Library Card which I plan to decorate and use as bookmarks. Also by  Horizon Group USA the Striped Binder Label Tags which I will more than likely use with my bible journaling. I figured with the Alphabet Ribbon that I would use it for Back-to-School gifts for my little beauties. Lastly, I purchased these oh so cute U Brands ballpoint pens. I just love both the diamond wand and the feather. They both write well….and they were only $1.50!!!!!

Next stop was Hobby Lobby.

At Hobby Lobby, I purchased what I needed as well as a little something extra. I wanted another ink blending tool – the rectangular one to be specific. I have both the rectangular and circle ones, but for whatever reason, I like to use the rectangular ones for Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Black Soot and Vintage Photo. I also purchased this Art-c Ephemera Collage Kit. Yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing what goodies it holds.

Lastly, it’s Michael’s!

I didn’t get too much here:  Heidi Swapp Sticker and Mod Podge Peal and Stick Stencil-Starlite. All of these items can be used for various projects, so I am excited about using them as well.

Well, that is it for this haul. Until next time

Happy Crafting!

Chic Planning:  July 11-17, 2016 + July Monthly Planner Layout

Hello Everyone!!!!

I am back from vacation and planning to share some pictures soon. I’m also trying to adjust back to this Texas heat!  While taking pictures of this week’s layout, I realized that I hadn’t shared my monthly spread for this month, so today I will be sharing both.

Let’s get started with the monthly layout for July.

This month is a special month for me because not only is it my anniversary month, but it’s also mine and my oldest DD’s birthday month. Here on the left side of my layout I added a fashion girl that I found on Pinterest. I used Copic Markers to make her skin and hair darker as well as to add some color to her dress with the yellow and pink as well as some color to her shoes. In the illustration she was holding a balloon, but you couldn’t see the full balloon so I added a happy birthday balloon sticker to her.

Here on the right side of my layout, I of course added some birthday balloons, presents and a banner to mark my birthday.  I used stickers and washi tape to mark my anniversary.

Materials Used: MAMBI Pocket Pages Foil Stickers, Washi Tape: the Paper Studio, Heidi Swapp and Wal*Mart, Sticko Stickers: Glitter Hearts, Birthday Party and Birthday Girl, Chic Tags Im a Planner Addict Stamp Set, Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop Ink: Rosebud, Dandelion and Bahama Blue, Heidi Swapp Stickers, ColorBök Limited Edition Stickersoodles Glittering Cupcakes, the Paper Studio Stick-A-Bilities

Since July is generally a busy month for us, I tried to make sure I left a lot of space to write everything that will be going on this month. I love the overall look and feel of this month’s layout!

Now on to this week’s layout!

Here is the left side of my layout for this week. I used a set of free printables that I found on Pinterest along with one I made myself. I used the chevron sticker print as my inspiration. I love the hint of green in that sticker so I thought this fashion girl would work perfect with her green skirt.

With the rectangles that don’t hold a sticker, I thought it would be fun to carry on the chevron print as well as some splatters.

Materials Used: Tim Holts Collection Stamper Anonymous Layering Stencil-Splatters, Costal Stencil-Chevron from he Target Dollar Spot, Fashion Girl and Free Printable from Pinterest, a personal printable with images found on Pinterest, Gold Dot Confetti from Stash, Artist’s Loft Walercolor Set, Tim Holtz Distress Ink- Cracked Pistachio, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers, Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop-Bahama Blue, Rosebud, Dandelion and Pear Tart

I absolutely love the way this spread came together. I think I will call it Summer Dreams because of the dreamy look it has.

Well, I hope you all are enjoying your summer so far. As for me it’s been busy and fun. So until next time,

Happy Planning!

Chic Planning: July 4-10, 2016 – I’m going back to Cali

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!  The firework show here in San Diego was spectacular and we had an amazing view of the show.

So today I will be sharing with you all my planner layout for this week. Since my hubby and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary here in the Golden State I thought I would make a simple layout so lots of notes could be added to the page. So let’s get started!

On he left side of the layout, I traced the shape of California and colored it in with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

On the right side, I added some more printable tags and added some Wink of Stella for some glitter effects.

To close out and pull together the layout, I inked my edges and called it a day.   I hope you all have a great week. Until next time,

Happy Planning!
