Mini Scrapbook Layout:  Meet the Teacher Night

Hello, hello, hello!

Today, I will be sharing with you all the layouts I made for the girls Meet-the-Teacher Night at their school last week.

My goal for each child is to capture meaningful moments within their K-12 experience. At the end of each school year, I present them with a scrapbook that charts that year. With that being said, I have completed 3 albums…and I’m behind 1 due to printing issues, but it will be finished soon.

Above are the three types of albums I’ve used.

And a glimpse inside. I keep these pages fairly simple and try to focus more on the stories.

This year I will be working with a 6×8 3-ring scrapbook, which is different for me since I tend to scrapbook on 12×12 or 8×8 pages. So it should be fun. My goal is to try to work on layouts as the events take place instead of completing a whole book at one time.  With that being said, I would like to share with you all my first pages for this school year.

These are the supplies I used to make all of the layouts. I used Bazzill Cardstock – Avalanche for all of the layouts as well as some Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Festive Berries (not pictured here) to ink my edges.

Here we are having a blast at Meet-the-Teacher Night!  This page will be going in my youngest DDs album.

I wanted to have this picture on a page by itself so when we look back on these days, we will remember the day Emmie met her Kindergarten teacher.

Next up is our oldest DDs page. We put the same family photo on each layout since these pages will be going in their individual albums.

Jaelle was so excited about finally getting this teacher, I just love the excitement on her face!

That ends today’s post. I hope you all enjoyed and are inspired by these layouts. Until next time,

Happy Crafting!

Haul x2:  Michael’s and Hobby Lobby

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I wanted to share my recent hauls from Michael’s and Hobby Lobby.  So let’s get started!

I’ve mixed up all the products so all the ones from Michael’s and Hobby Lobby are spread out between photos.

First up, I purchased an Artist Loft Drawing Pad from Michael’s. I like to use these as pages for the books in my fauxdori. I also purchased a fine tip Marvy Water-In Brush, Dylusions Ink Spray in Cherry Pie and Funky Fuchsia and some Tim Holtz Distress Mini Pad Kit #14 withTwisted Citron, Blueprint Sketch, Hickory Smoke and Ground Espresso.

Next, on I believe Instagram or Facebook, I saw that someone had purchased this storage box for their washi tape and I loved it, especially seeing as how my two washi tape storages are just about full….a girl can never have too many Washi’s!  I also purchased this Zipper Bag that was just too cute to pass up. I will be using it for either my planner pens or small planner stickers for on the go.

Here I have some items that I will be using in Project Life, my Planner and for Scrapbooking. From left to right the items are as follows:  Simple Stories Carpe Diem Sn@p! Pack, the Paper Studio Stick-a-bilities Alpha Black, Gold Foil stickers, Heidi Swapp Stickers, and Becky Higgins Project Life Inspire Mini Kit.

Lastly, I have these two adhesive backing chipboard pieces from Crate Paper. They are a part of he Maggie Holmes collection and the names of them are Open Book and Confetti. There was a third one as well at Hobby Lobby, but I only picked up these two.

Here is everything from the haul all together. I hope you all enjoyed this post. And now I better go and get some creations started!

Happy Crafting!

Mini Haul

Over the weekend I stopped by Hobby Libby and Michael’s and was able to find these goodies:

I’m excited about using the stamps and rub-ons for future project life, cards and Scrapbooking projects. I’m not sure what I will use the journals for, but I know I will use them and they were just too cute not to purchase. The journal cards will be used with my Project Life spreads. The multi media matte is one of my favorite glues to use with mixed media layouts. And these wood stamps are from Michael’s BoHo collection.  I’ve never used wood stamps before so I’m excited about trying them out in future mixed media layouts.

Until next time,

Happy Crafting!

Project Life:  The story of 2014

Hello Everyone!

So from the title of this post I’m sure you all can guess that I will be talking about Project Life, and yes, it’s the story of 2014.  For Project Life, I tend to have two 12×12 Albums….so 2014 was no different. In 2014 though, I just stopped cold turkey in the Fall and didn’t pick back up until this past Friday. I must say though that I still did good with printing photos. The good thing is that although I wasn’t  physically working in my album, I had printed photos and placed them in the corresponding week’s pockets. So in the grand scheme of things, all I had to do was finish he layouts with Project Life kits, journaling and whichever embellishments I wanted to use.

But back to Friday….I woke up for my morning workout, came home, cleaned our bathrooms, washed and sat down for breakfast….yes, all of this was done before 10am!  Around 1:00pm, I started to get really tired, but I’m not one to take cat naps and I knew I had a little over an hour before I had to pick my daughter up….as I looked at my bookshelf and zoned into my Project Life 2014 Album, I declared right then and there, “today…this weekend I will fully complete Peoject Life 2014!”  And so my quest began!

I tend to work on Project Life on the floor instead of at my desk and pictured above, 2 tape runners, 14 layouts, an opening page and ending page as well as 3 additional layouts later during the extra early hours of Sunday morning, the album was complete!  Above is the mess I left at bed time!

Now I will share with you all Week 39-52 of my 2014 Project Life Album:

And that completes today post. Thank you for hanging out with me.  I have one final thought:  In Scrapbooking, we as scrapbookers tend to think that we MUST finish everything right now, and on time.  But I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t matter when you complete a project, all that matters is that you did, no matter the time it took to get there. And on that note,

Happy Crafting!

Michael’s Haul

Hello Everyone!

Today I had a few extra minutes to spare, so I decided to stop by Michael’s to see if they had anything good. And boy did they!  I was able to purchase the items pictured below for under $25. How awesome is that?!? I’ve been wanting these Project Life kits for quite sometime and was ecstatic when I saw the clearance price!  Well, I better get scrapping now!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy V-Day! And in honor of this holiday, I wanted to share with you all a layout I created using a FREE printable for a Valentine’s Giveaway from Studio Calico. Not only did I use the printable, but since the prompts for this week involve Love for Get Messy Art Journal, I thought this would be a great way to incorporate both. One of the Prompt Challenges was to use Washi tape in a way that you normally would not, so that is what I showcased here in this layout. I decided to use the Washi Tape as seen below as a backdrop for this Heidi Swapp Glitter Chipboard Heart.

Overall, I like the pop of color that it brings to the layout and I feel as though it helps to draw the eye to the photo of my husband and two daughters.
So what are ways in which you use Washi Tape? I would love to hear what you all are doing with this fun decorative tape.

Until next time, enjoy your day and Happy Scrappin’!

Technique Thursday: Wine Cork Seal Brad Embellishments

Yes, you read that right, today we will be discussing how to make Wine Cork Seal Brad Embellishments. Now I know you’re probably wondering how in the world I came up with this idea….well, one day, I was opening up a bottle of Sisterhood Sweet Red Wine, and as I was taking off the seal (which reads “Cowboy” at the top), I thought, “ummm, that would be cool to use the top of this seal and place it on a brad for a future layout of Em and her cowgirl outfut.” So that is just what I did, and today I would like to share this technique with you all. So here we go!

2015/01/img_2086.jpg

Materials Needed:
Imaginisce i*top Brad Maker
Imaginisce i*top Medium Brad Daddies (22mm)
Wine Bottle Cork Seals (or scrapbooking paper or extra small photos)

2015/01/img_2087.jpg

Let’s Get Started!

2015/01/img_2088.jpg

1. First, what we will do is once the seal for the cork is cut out, we will place
the seal on the Imaginisce i*top Brad Maker.
2. Place the front side of the brad Brad on top
3. Press the Brad Maker tool down onto the brad top and the seal
4. Next place the bad side of the brad into the Brad Maker
5. Press the back end of the Brad into the front side of the brad and the seal
6. Now take your completed brad out
7. At this point, I like to smooth the edges of my brad down, by pressing it
(rolling it firmly) onto a hard surface
8. Now your brad is complete and ready to use on a card or layout.

See below the wine seals that I had on had that I made into Brad Embellishments:

Technique Day: Tissue Paper Stamping

The first time I saw this technique was back in Summer 2008, during a Two Peas In The Bucket Online Course called Thinking Inking lead by Jennifer McGuire. In this particular class, she stamped an image onto tissue paper to get a more precise image and then applied the tissue paper to a sticky back canvas.
With that being said, I would like to share this super easy technique with you all….minus the canvas.

First, gather your materials:
Any type of stamp (here, I used Ranger MEDIA Clear Stamp Set, Clearly Collaged Hearts by Dina Wakley)
An Acrylic Block (Optional)
Ranger Archival Ink – Jet Black
Tissue Paper (I subscribe to Julep and every month the nail polish and beauty products are wrapped in tissue paper and shredded paper) They always have nice tissue paper and this is a great way to recycle the tissue paper.

2015/01/img_2045.jpg

Next, ink the stamp you will be using with the Archival Ink. The great thing about this ink is that not only is it Acid Free, but it’s also Fade Resistant, and Waterproof. The fact that it is waterproof makes it a great ink to use with mixed media projects.

2015/01/img_2046.jpg

Press your stamp down onto the tissue paper.

2015/01/img_2044.jpg

Here below, after stamping the image you will get a nice crisp image.

2015/01/img_2047.jpg

Here are some of the other stamps from the stamp set on some of the other tissue papers.

2015/01/img_2048.jpg

The really cool thing about this is that once you have stamped your image, the limits are truly infinate. I cut my stamped tissue paper hearts out and used them in a Mixed Media project (which I will be sharing on Monday).

So please give this technique a try and let me know how you like it and what kind of projects you made with them.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin’!

Here is a Sneak Peak of Monday’s Blog Post showcasing these too cute embellishments 🙂

Wax Paper Heart Embellishments

Hello, Hello!

Over the Summer, I began to really get into Mixed Media. I still of course consider myself a beginner and student of the craft. However, I must share with you all that it is a very freeing craft…to just what seems like anyway, throw some stuff together to create what essentially will be a masterpiece. It’s freeing and you have an ultimate sense of instant gratitude…..and it is absolutely amazing. 🙂
Anyway, the tutorial I would like to share with you is a very simple one. One in which you can create in less thank 5 minutes. Yes, you read correctly….LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. I will be sharing with you all how to make Wax Paper Heart Embellishments.

Materials Needed:
Wax Paper from your local grocery store
Staz On Ink Pad of any color (I used Jet Black)
Heart Stamp (or any other heart in which you can fussy cut the image easily)

IMG_1869.JPG

Crumple wax paper into a ball
Smoothed the wax paper out unto your workspace.
Ink up stamp
Stamp straight onto the wax paper
Fussy cut the images

THAT IS IT!

Now you can feel free to add your heart (or other) embellishments onto scrapbook layouts, handmade cards, art journal page, ATC, etc. Below, I added some of the hearts to a Mixed Media page I was was working on at the time. This may become a card front one day….I’m not sure yet. 🙂

Let me know if any of you try out this technique and let me know how it goes and what you use the embellishments on.

Work It Out!

I know it has been a while…I won’t bore you with the details,  but I’m glad to be back.  I have a few things in store and hope you will join me along the way.  Until then,  please enjoy this card I was able to create this evening.
